To ensure Black/African American children and their families in the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) community are valued and supported as we treasure the strength in our diversity. Guaranteeing that learning is meaningful, relevant, and connected with each child’s individual needs, ethics, culture, and experiences. Relentlessly seeking excellence and systemic integrity for all students, families, and staff in and around the CVESD community.
The purpose of this Council shall be to:
- Provide and monitor the ongoing support for Black/African American students and their families in the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) to ensure unbiased practices/policies, equitable educational outcomes, and equal access to a quality education.
- Function as a district/school advisory group for Black/African American parents/guardians and their children for the purpose of providing input for the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and participating in evaluating its effectiveness as it relates to the educational needs of Black/African American students.
- Ensure the ongoing support and input for cultural training and awareness for all stakeholders through a process involving shared decision-making with a lens on how this affects Black/African American students, families, staff, and the community at large.
